Message I dropped my Z off to get a new water pump and timing belt on mid last week. It was running good when I dropped it off, just time for new water pump. I took it to the Nissan dealer in Fairfield, CA because I'm up here doing some military duty and they are Nissan. They SHOULD know what they are doing.
Friday, I pick it up and drive it home. It starts bogging down and backfiring when I gave it gas. So I took it back the next morning expecting it to be a minor timing issue, maybe a few hours tops. Four PM comes around and they don't know what is wrong. The tech keeps saying its because the wrong pully is on the p/s pump. I asked him how it because of a pully that has been on the engine for 5yrs and just now causes the problem. He then says it's because there was a second pully that was wrong also, but he changed that one, so now the two pullys are different. One has 2 grooves and one has 3. Again I ask if has been that way for 5yrs and tens of thousands of miles, why now is it doing this and don't you think if the two pullies were the same and now you change them that something is maybe wrong The tech doesn't know what to do so I have to leave it there Saturday and Sunday. I was hoping they would be done with it mid today. Noon comes and I call to see what the problem is and they try to feed me some BS that the turbos are bad and that is why its backfiring. I explain to the techs and service manager that when I dropped the car off last week it was running strong, and when I got it back it was all jacked up. The service manager didn't even know who or why I was calling the service department and tried to feed me the same story as the techs, that the turbos are bad. I told him "If you guys don't know what you are doing just tell me. Don't try to give me some story of something that is wrong but isn't". They really didn't have anything to say after that.
So I am waiting by my phone to see what the next story is.
